Old Colony senior Samantha Clarke recently began her term as the student member of the District School Committee. A Freetown resident, Samantha was elected as Chairperson of the Student Advisory Committee to the School Committee. The chairperson also serves as an ex-officio member of the District School Committee.  

Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Janelle Gifford and Ryan Pimental, both from Acushnet, have been honored with a nomination for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The program, awarded in conjunction with the collegiate Heisman, celebrates the achievements of the nation’s top high school seniors both in and out of the classroom.

Nicholas Macedo (Acushnet), a student in Old Colony’s Welding Department, recently passed the One Inch-3G (Vertical Groove) test plate as part of the Massachusetts Highway Department’s Bridge Certification Program. This certification is granted jointly by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the American Welding Society.  

The English Department faculty at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School recently announced the annual awarding of English Book Awards. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) is the governing body for all high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The entire senior class of Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Cosmetology Department has obtained their Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology Operator’s License.
