Old Colony Career Technical Institute (OCTI)

The Greater New Bedford Workforce Board and Old Colony Regional School District have joined efforts to help increase the number of qualified skilled Tradespersons. This free opportunity is funded by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development. MassHire Program Services are funded in part by US Department of Labor (USDOL) Employment and Training Administration grants as well as non-federal funded grants.

Together, they have successfully coordinated an adult education courses in Welding through the newly established Old Colony Technical Institute (OCTI). This hands-on courses will engage you in a basic understanding of these trades and address the shortage of qualified and skilled tradespeople in the fields. As a student you will have an opportunity to gain vocational hands on experience, followed by local job placement.

Prerequsites
  • Be present every day and on time
  • Serious, committed and ready for work upon completion of the program placement assistance is provided
  • writing skills
  • Basic computer skills (typing, logging in, app opening)
  • Pass CORI
  • Ages 18+ and high school diploma or equivalent
