The administration is pleased to recognize the following Old Colony student-athletes who were recipients of Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Outstanding Sportsmanship Awards. Computer Information Technology Department senior Stefan Beaulieu has been elected to receive the 2004 Principal’s Leadership Award. This award is sponsored by the Herff-Jones Company and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Stefan is now eligible for one of the 150 scholarships of $1,000.00. Stefan was nominated for the award based upon leadership ability

The Old Colony administration hosted a Captains’ Luncheon on October 26, 2004, as part of Leadership Week activities at Old Colony. The event was catered by the school’s Culinary Arts Department. The Guidance Department at Old Colony announces the availability of a listing of upcoming college presentations being conducted at the technical school. Counselor Anne Spirlet encourages parents of Old Colony juniors and seniors to request a copy of the schedule of activities. Special college service programs are included among the scheduled events.

Old Colony held its annual Parents’ Night on November 16, 2004. Hundreds of parents visited the school and discussed the academic and vocational standing of their children with Old Colony instructors. The evening started in the cafetorium with opening remarks from Mr. Ferreira. Parents then visited the vocational shops and the academic wing and met

Computer Information Technology students at Old Colony are involved in a unique learning opportunity this semester. The students are enrolled as “distance learning students” at Bristol Community College. In effect, they are earning college credit and participating in college online courses while at school. Old Colony’s Peer Leadership group recently held their annual “Activity Fair” for freshmen students. The purpose of the fair is to give freshmen students an overview of all the extracurricular activites available at the school.
