Old Colony

The Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School District Committee adopted the 2005-2006 District School Improvement Plan, as required by the Massachusetts Education Reform Act, at its meeting on September 21, 2005. The Plan was prepared and recommended by the Old Colony School Council.

Three times each school year, the Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School District publishes a newsletter for parents and community residents. The newsletter addresses significant educational issues and highlights activities at the technical high school. The school maintains a mailing list of individuals who receive the periodic newsletter. The Old Colony Cosmetology Department is open to the public. Appoinments may be made Monday through Friday. The Cosmetology Department instructors train students in facials, manicures, scalp treatments, permanent waves, hair coloring, highlighting techniques, and (new this year) hand and arm paraffin wax treatments. Charges are minimal to patrons. Gift certificates are also available.

The Southcoast Mobile Health Van will continue to serve Old Colony RVTHS students and faculty for the 2005-2006 school year. – (12/12/05) Mr. David Lamontagne, a science teacher at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, was selected by the administration last year to participate in the statewide Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators’ Leadership Academy. – (12/12/05) The administration and staff at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School are pleased to announce the nomination of an English teacher, Mr. Paul Brodeur, as their nominee for the National Teachers Hall of Fame Induction Program. Mr. Brodeur, a Somerset resident, was the overwhelming selection of the Old Colony professional staff. A
