On May 27, 2005 the Old Colony’s Machine & Tool Technology Department attended EASTEC “05” in Springfield, MA. The trip was sponsored by The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). The students had the opportunity to see the latest technology in machine tools and related equipment being used by industry. Hundreds of exhibitors displayed and demonstrated everything from manual machine tools through the newest in CNC controlled equipment. The students also had a chance to witness non-traditional machining techniques, such as EDM and water jet. SME staff provided a luncheon for the students, which was followed by a brief presentation on career opportunities within manufacturing fields.
