On Friday January 6th, the Old Colony carpentry department delivered a three foot by nine foot oak table to the new Fire Department Headquarters in Carver. Old Colony Carpentry first became involved in this project when Chief Weston reached out to Mrs. Machamer (Vocational/Assistant Principal) about the project in June of 2016. OC Carpentry started the project at the beginning of this school year. Junior and Senior students in the carpentry shop designed and constructed the table over past three months. When the table was complete students from the Senior class along with Mr. Sims delivered and assembled the table. Once the table was assembled Chief Weston and Firefighter Wilcox (OC Grad) gave the students a tour of the new fire station and training facility. Chief Weston even trained our students how to use the fire pole (to the disappointment of the students Mr. Sims chickened out).
A lot of students in the Senior and Junior class worked on the project but these students really played a big roll in the construction of the table:
Amanda Masse
Paul Soucy
Dylan Sullo
Elana Sargent
Andrew Frasier
Andrew Cox
OC Carpentry would also like to thank Erin Murray from Old Colony’s Graphic Communication Shop for given the junior class a lesson on applying vinyl decals to the table.
