Old Colony completes NEASC evaluation process

– (3/15/08)
Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School was recently subjected to a comprehensive evaluation of Technical and Career Institutions by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The evaluation took place from March 10-13, 2008.

The Commission on Technical and Career Institutions is one of eight accrediting commissions in the United States that provide institutional accreditation as a whole. The Commission, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 122 institutions in the six-state New England region and Europe. Old Colony has been accredited by the Commission since 1988 and was last reviewed in 1998.

Its accreditation by the New England Association encompasses the entire institution. For the past year and a half, Old Colony has been engaged in the process of self-study, addressing the Commission’s Standards of Membership. A Visiting Committee evaluated Old Colony RVTHS to gather evidence to ensure that the self-study is thorough and accurate. The Visiting Committee will recommend to the Commission a continuing status for the institution; following a review process, the Commission itself will take the final action.
