Culinary Arts

Students in the two hundred hour Culinary Arts program will gain skills in food handling and safety, meal planning, food preparation, and hospitality in a traditional brick and mortar restaurant setting. There will be an opportunity to gain up to 25 hours in work experience with the local employers. Upon graduation, students will have completed OSHA 10, Serve Safe food, and Safe Serve Allergen Certifications. The student will have the opportunity to learn by doing.  The following areas will be covered:

  • Food safety and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Ingredient measurement and recipe preparations
  • Cooking techniques including but not limited to steaming, grilling, baking, roasting, sautéing, soups, and sauces
  • Raw vegetable, meat, and seafood preparations
  • Food production station set up and maintenance
  • Menu and preparation knowledge
  • Basic front of the house service station knowledge
  • Basic baking techniques
