Janelle Gifford, a top ranking senior class member at Old Colony, has been selected to receive the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents’ “Certificate of Academic Excellence.”
Janelle, an Acushnet resident, has been an outstanding scholar during her years at Old Colony. She has excelled in both her academic and vocational studies. She is vice president of the school’s National Honor Society Chapter. A student-athlete, Janelle has been a member of the school’s varsity softball team for the past three years. Last June, Janelle received the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators’ Student Achievement Award.
The twenty-first recipient of the Certificate of Academic Excellence, Janelle will be honored on October 11, 2006, when Superintendent-Director, David J. Ferreira, will present the award during the Old Colony Advisory Board Dinner.
Requirements for selection include ranking in the top five percent of the class, proven excellence in both academic and vocational skills, and participation in school activities.
