OC wins 4th Annual BCC Website Contest

Old Colony students from the Computer Information Technology Department won first- and second-place trophies and prizes for their placement in the Fourth Annual Bristol Community College (BCC) Website Contest, held on May 11, 2006, at the Fall River campus.

Eighty students from 6 area high schools participated in the competition. The students were given textual content relating to the topic of computer science and were given 2 1/2 hours to design and develop websites, complete with graphic art they created and images from the Internet.

Participating schools included: New Bedford Voc-Tech, Silver Lake, Old Colony RVTHS, Tri-County RVTHS, Westport, and Apponequet High School.

Prizes were awarded to the first-, second-, and third place student teams.

  • First Place: Old Colony
  • The team of Jamie Pooler (Carver) and Jeffrey Cormier (Acushnet) won a First Place trophy and a $100 Best Buy gift certificate.
  • Second Place: Old Colony
  • The team of Derek Valentim (Acushnet) and Nick DeBrum (Lakeville) won a Second Place trophy and a $75 Best Buy gift certificate.
  • Third Place: (tie) Student teams from Tri-County & Apponequet
