SkillsUSA officers attend conference

The SkillsUSA officer team from Old Colony participated in the SkillsUSA Fall State Leadership Conference in Marlboro, Massachusetts, on November 20, 21, and 22, 2005. Over 400 student leaders from more than 25 vocational/technical high schools in Massachusetts were in attendance. Students participated in leadership building activities, culminating in their receiving the leadership award.

The theme of the conference, “Creating a Culture of Community,” was embodied in the community service project sponsored by City Year, in which students and advisors refurbished a Boy’s and Girl’s club. Old Colony’s officer team consists of Andre Arsenault, Desiree Genard, and Erin Mello from Acushnet; Mari Mitchell and Luke Coppola from Lakeville; and Nicole Doyle and Sarah Robert from East Freetown. Each of these students not only achieved the leader award, but did so with highest possible score.
